June 14, 2004 - 02:59 west jefferson is a nice town. most of their money comes from tourism, though, i think, and farming? people buying vacation homes, so people with degrees are working in grocery stores and at the bank. a few days ago we found a dune buggy in the parking lot. in three days i am going to go into this hyper, probably obnoxiously hyper state so i will not be dumb and ruin this vacation, or not take advantage of it as much as i could have. and then i'll remember that i was more than happy, in a frenzy. i climbed up in my mother's closet and she has cat on a hot tin roof and war and peace. right now i'm reading henry and june, after that i'll read the cat on a hot tin roof book, probably, and i want to read the mennyms, switchers, and the golden compass again because i always reread kids books over the summer and during the trip to north carolina. i used to read anything my sister brought home but now she only reads fear street books. i also have one on alaska and one with local legends and one about the confederacy and how they could have won the war (as they should have!). just kidding. i wonder if there are any good civil war cemeteries around west jefferson, or battlefields. there are a couple cemeteries around the house that i want to visit, but blood, in the ground! maybe i'll get a travel guide from the library, if i can do it without adding to the reading books. this is going to be good. anyone want a postcard? pm me your address from my fotopage. if you want me to send you a scribbled, incoherent story, because i never know what to put in letters, even really short ones.
